June 1, 1935 – June 9, 2015
One of the original founders of Inscapes, David was born in Montreal into a loving family of 12 children. That love was extended to his Oblate community and endured well beyond leaving the community in 1980.
Uniting in marriage with Carol Ann, together they traveled the country applying the enneagram symbol to understanding the mystery of love. Their love for their work and for each other become a force of service to others.
Quotes from his journal hint to the struggle of learning how to love in freedom: “Carol Ann went to a concert. Money was left visable in the car. The car was broken into. The side window shattered. My love was put to the test. ‘I passed!’”
At workshops David always wrote his name in Hebrew “beloved of Yahweh”. A fierce love burned beneath a sometimes harsh exterior and he often prayed Pslam 89: 34:I will not break my covanent
I will not revoke my given word
I have sworn on my holiness, once for all
And cannot turn liar to David
A lover of music and a teacher of Gregorian chant, David’s soul continues to sing. While we perform rituals of farwell, beings on the other side of existence are performing a heavenly rite of reception for David’s soul and spirit.
A celebration of his life was held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Road.
With reverence, truth and dignity the two worlds come together. Journey well, my love.
